Fashion 101 is a hands on training course taught by celebrity wardrobe
stylist Cory Savage. This course serves as a way for aspiring
wardrobe stylist to dive, head first, into the the world of
Professional/Celebrity Wardrobe Styling. Our courses come agency
recommended and are often a preliminary requirement in be able to be
considered on their Agency, Wardrobe Asst. Roster. Our Fashion 101
course is broken down into a 3 part series of classes:
Day 1: Fashion 101
Cory's expertise in color and style coordination, wardrobe placement
for commercial print advertising, fashion photography shoots, film and
television projects and personal consulting are incorporated into
the Fashion 101 course curriculum covered in the Part I of the course
series. During this course, students will learn about a typical work
environment on a television, film, commercial or music video set. You
will learn how to read scripts and look at storyboards to determine
what wardrobe items are required and how to procure them within the
budget. Students leave versed on the ins and outs of the professional
wardrobe stylist's day to day.
Day 2: Styling
In Part II of the course series, each student will be given a male and
female client, i.e, model, celebrity, actor, musician etc. We will
discuss styling concepts and learn to facilitate a styling concept by
shopping at fashion and costume houses, clothing stores and public
relation firms. Students will become familiar with these advertising
agencies, catalog publishers, fashion houses and public relations
firms and learn exactly how to get in contact and conduct business
with each.
Fashion stylists must have a good eye for things that look "hot and
new" and be aware of fashion trends. They also need to enjoy shopping
(and returning items) and be resourceful and detail oriented. This is
where you will get to experience all of this first hand and see if
you've got what it takes to make it all come together.
Day 3: Photo Shoot
Fashion 101 sets up an editorial fashion shoot with professional
photographers, models and hair and makeup artists to apply the styling
concepts learned and practiced in Part I and Part II of the course
series. This day consists of an on location shoot with your focuses on
honing your talent and on-the-spot styling inspiration. All photos
shot on Day 3 will be available for use in your portfolio upon
completion of the course.
Space is limited for each Series (we limit the class size to 4 students)
